Every year, when I am releasing my annual music compilation, I find myself in a position where I always feel the need to explain myself about why I make such music albums. As I started doing this more than ten years ago, I have met many people who simply couldn't understand my dedication to this. This year, I decided that “why” is not important any more. Instead, I would rather write a bit about the project itself.

To start off with, as we know, the past months have been very different for all of us. As animals, we were put in cages. All of our fundamental human rights were forcefully taken away. In a matter of weeks, we were made to believe that everything we once thought to be normal is not normal any more. And that everything which was not normal is now normal. They called it the “new normality”. Everybody who is against it is threatened, blamed or censored. The past year was already difficult for me. I wasn't in a good place — both physically and mentally. As usual, I wanted this project, which I have been working on for the past 12 months, to reveal as much as possible about how I was feeling during that time. I found “Equally Lost” to be the perfect name for it. We were, and still are, all lost. Lost in restrictions. Lost in information and disinformation. Lost in our present and lost in our future.

Fortunately, one of the few things that wasn't taken from us is music. It is usually most people's escape from the reality and it was even more so for me in the past months. I am very thankful to George Stefanoff (Efoff Designs) for the artwork that he created. I think that he managed to visually represent my feelings in both very precise and also quite abstract manner so for everybody to be able to acknowledge it in their own way. I am also grateful to all artists who are releasing music now, as it is needed more than ever.

I have more than 200 favourite songs released in the past 12 months. Working on the tracklist was exciting, but also a delicate task, as I wanted to present a mixture of commercial hits, as well as other songs that I love, while still keeping to the theme of the project. In fact, with 54 songs, this is my biggest release since the 2014's “#Can'tLetGo”. There are 41 artists on the album which I haven't featured in any of my previous music projects. Furthermore, it includes songs from 9 genres, including Pop, Dance and Alternative. I hope that this means I have managed to create an album, different to what I have released before and varied enough so that everybody can enjoy it.

The packaging is also unique and something I haven't done before. The CD is all black with a vinyl-like surface on top. Making the project available as a physical release is the best way to reach out to the people who have had an influence over how I feel and, therefore, on the album itself.  "Equally Lost" is also available on the major streaming services — Apple Music and Spotify, as well as on YouTube.
